About Me

A Special Piece of Jewelry

My beloved grandfather passed away 23 years ago. I was only 12 years old when this special person in my life died. However, this man taught me so many things during the few years I spent with him. My grandfather was also an accomplished guitarist. A few months ago, I visited the home he shared with my grandmother. While searching through his old belongings, I found a guitar pick. To keep the memory of my grandfather alive, I want to make a necklace out of this special token from my grandfather’s past. On this blog, you will discover how to make jewelry items from guitar picks.

4 Things To Check When Trying On Leggings

by Priscilla Gray

Well, the decision has been made. Women everywhere have now established that leggings are pants, or at least that they can be worn as pants. You can wear leggings with tunics, with shorter shirts, or even with sweaters. But regardless of how you style them, they need to fit well. Here are some things to check for as you try on leggings.

Does the waist gap?

Some leggings have thick, stretchy waistbands that do a great job of conforming to your body regardless of how you bend. Others have thinner waistbands that gap if you bend in a certain direction. A gaping waistband can feel uncomfortable if you end up being active in the leggings, and it can look strange if you wear your leggings with shorter shirts. So when you try your leggings on, move around in them a bit to see where the waistband ends up; you want it to stay in place and not to form folds or gaps.

Are the leggings the right length?

The "right" length for leggings really depends on your preferences. Some people like the leggings to come all of the way down to their ankles. Others like them to show the last few inches of their lower legs. There is one thing you definitely do not want, and that's leggings that are too long. If there is material bunched up above your shoe, then you may need to switch to shorter leggings. Ones sold in petite sizes may be a better choice. Petites, however, are also made with a shorter waist, so if they don't feel quite right, look for leggings labeled "short" which tend to have a normal waist but shorter legs.

Are the leggings transparent?

Better quality leggings are solid, and you can't see through the material even when you bend or twist. If you can see through the material in areas even when the leggings are new, this is not a good sign. You should look instead for leggings made from thicker materials; not only will they look more appropriate, but they will last better through multiple washings.

How does the material feel?

Leggings should feel soft against your body. Everyone has different standards for softness, so the best way to know if a certain pair of leggings is soft enough for you is to try them on. Those with a lower percentage of nylon in the fabric tend to be the softest.
